Behind The Mic

OB aka Obliveus
Obliveus plays an infectious blend of funk, rnb, hip hop, indie, reggae, northern soul, dancehall, disco, edits, rock, pop, house and just about anything else he can use to work the room. A party beat specialist, the one thing you can say about his style is that he’s hard to define; yet always plays to the crowd and will pull out whatever it takes to get the room jumping…assuming that’s what’s required.
He has held down residencies at every major club night worth mentioning, holds down the St Kilda, Come Together and Sydney Road Festivals every year and rocked sets at Soulfest, Harvest, Earthcore and Rainbow Serpent. He’s been played on Triple J national radio, has written plenty of edits that make the rounds and now sits on quite a few choice gigs on the regular with sets and residencies all over Melbourne Town.
As a sign of his eclectic nature, his music career has seen him support and play with many of the top names in soul, funk, breakbeat, hip hop, reggae, drum’n’bass and live music. Acts such as Portishead, Nile Rodgers & Chic, D’Angelo, Opiuo, Fatback Band, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Roy Ayers, Common, Beck, No Doubt, Bliss N Eso, Aloe Blacc, Mos Def, Maxwell, Mr Thing, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Santigold, Stickeybuds, Andy C, Omar, The Kashmere Stage Band, Miami Horror, Robert Glasper, The Dandy Warhols, Pato Banton, Plump DJ’s, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, The Freestylers, Mike Patton, Pendulum, Angie Stone, Chase & Status, Saskwatch, Incubus, Ed Solo, Donovan Frankenreiter, Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins, Herbalizer DJ’s, Kylie Auldist, Trojan Sound System, Ozomatli, Marky, Mr Savona, The Putbacks, Shortee Blitz, The Nextmen, Cactus Channel, Katalyst, Fort Knox Five, The Maestro (Blue Note), The Flaming Lips, Andy Smith, The Family Stone (of Sly fame), All Good Funk Alliance, Katch (Resin Dogs), The Herd, Stanton Warriors, DJ Food, TV On The Radio, Spikey Tee, Ben Folds Five, Jacques Lu Cont, The Silversun Pickups, Cake, Ladytron, Tiesto, Mark Pritchard, Lanu and more. He even supported Chris Rock for 3 dates on his ‘No Apologies’ comedy tour, highlighting just how varied he can be as a DJ.
DJ Shan
DJ Shan has been around the block more than a few times. He’s got over twenty five years of experience behind him, a record collection that will make any deejay envious, and a concrete reputation as one of Australia’s most trusted party rockers.
His Groove Therapy radio show and podcast (now in it’s twentieth year) has been broadcasting weekly on 2SER FM every Friday lunchtime, and has become an essential listen to all musically savvy people in all corners of the globe.
As a veteran touring DJ, Shan has rocked dance floors in every major clubbing capital city around the world – and has had support billing alongside a who’s who of DJ royalty including people as diverse as Nile Rodgers and Chic, Soul II Soul, and DJ Kool Herc. Infact, pioneering deejay Grandmaster Flash requested Shan as his official support DJ for his 2013 Sydney tour – and only months earlier, Shan could be seen cutting it up on stage with New Yorks Hip Hop legends The Ultramagnetic MC’s.

About Our Show
Straight outta’ Melbourne & Sydney, The Low End Theory is a collaboration between DJ’s Obliveus & Shan, two mates from 2 cities playing nothing but beats of the funk, soul, hiphop, boogie, disco and house variety.
