This week, Shan and OB welcome Australian soul-sensations Randa & The Soul Kingdom onto the show. Over and under a stack of her stomping soul, smooth funk and go-go catchy tunes, Randa talks about a long career that spans multiple continents, numerous record releases, tours, band changes, trip hop and car crashes. Ever since her debut outing on Freestyle Records in 2009, she has been a voice for the modern soul revival in Australia. As part of Funk Club out of Perth, she honed her skills and working with Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos/Cookin’ On 3 Burners/Lanu) released some of the finest funk and soul jams this country has ever produced.
She’s worked with everyone from trip hop pioneers Kinobe to New Orleans funk legend Eddie Bo and shared stages with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and Lionel Richie, so you can definitely say she’s got range a plenty. Her new album ‘Put Your Hands Up’ is the soul explosion the world needs right now so the boys had to get the scoop on her very interesting story and did so over a couple sets of the finest soul, funk, boogie and hiphop you’ll hear all week.
